Adoption of the SGA model in Brazil
Brazil has already adopted the United Nations Globally Harmonized System for Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (SGA/GHS) as of its third revision with a standard divided into 4 parts:
• ABNT NRB 14725-01: Terminology
• ABNT NRB 14725-2: Classification
• ABNT 14725-3: Labeling
• ABNT NRB 14725-4: Safety Data sheets
The agencies responsable for the application of the standard are the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Transport.
The adaptation of the SGA/GHS by this standard in Brazil has some peculiarities, such as the possibility of using risk phrases EUH in the labeling being these phrases exclusive of the European adaptation of the SGA/GHS.
